Good Morning Leech Lakers,

We are sure that Mother Nature has weather up her sleeve at some point, but we are optimistic it's here, spring that is. The roads are free of snow, but watch for the sink holes.

The lake is almost open, the boat is launched, the otter's are playing on the thin layer of ice left, the snow is almost gone in the bush area, the birds are singing and the flowers are starting to poke their heads up.

We had an amazing week of warm sunny weather and today it is overcast and a little windy. Sad but true, the mosquitoes are out and soon their awful cousins the black flies will be here.

This will be our last "report" we hope everyone enjoyed the photos and blurbs over the winter. So have a great cottage season and come on up, your cottage and beautiful Leech Lake is awaiting you.
See you on the water.

Hello Leech Lakers,

Well hopefully spring has sprung and Mother Nature is not playing a cruel trick on us. The melt is on! Although we have had mild temps, only hump day...Wednesday was beautiful and sunny. The rain called for earlier in the week did not happen. We did have a storm last night, lots of thunder & lightening, but not much in the way of rain.

The creatures are showing their little faces, chippy last week, three raccoons this week peaking into our windows from a safe distance in the tree, two robins perched on our deck but they didn't stick around for a photo shoot. The Jays are screaming, squirrels chasing each other and chipmunks all over the place. Welcome Back!!

With all this spring weather we still have lots of snow in the bush. We also have our spring roads, that have icy spots with bare patches and are soft, so watch for sink holes. As usual, drive with care!

Signs of Spring

Hello Leech Lakers,

We hope you enjoyed the warm temperature on Wednesday. A sure sign of spring was when chippy poked his little head out from behind the snow bank and hammed it up for his photo shoot.

Along with the amazing double digits of yesterday we received rain overnight. We have plenty of water on the lake and with the rain it melted the snow base we had on the roads and typical this time of year the roads are icy so when venturing to your cottage be careful.

Enjoy your weekend.
